You are required under Tennessee law to have automobile insurance if you drive a car. Since you did not have any insurance, your drivers license can be revoked for as long as it takes you to pay off the insurance company for the other driver. However, what normally happens, is that you agree to make payments to the insuance company and they will notify the Department of Safety that you have agreed to make payments and you license will not be revoked. However, if you fail to live up to the payment plan, then your license can be revoked.
