Should I go to the bank and do the instructions?

Asked on Mar 29th, 2013 on Expungements - Oklahoma
More details to this question:
I got a letter by mail with $985.00 offering me work as a secret shopper. Beside the check is a letter with the job instructions to go to my bank and en cash the check. I would take $100.00 for me and send the remaining amount to somebody in another country. The person called me today and asked me, did you cashed the check and did as the instructions?

This is a scam, do not participate. Do not take or send any money to anyone from this source. The check will eventually found to be fraudulent and you liable for the whole amount.

You will get burned, and badly, if you do as the letter suggests? It is likely a scam. Honorable secret shopper organizations do not function in such a manner. Ask yourself, why would any group write you a larger than necessary check and ask you to send the excess money elsewhere. Again, do not yield to temptation.
