QUESTION

Should I quit before I get fired for suspected theft?

Asked on Jul 23rd, 2016 on Criminal Law - Texas
More details to this question:
I work for a large clothing retail store. The theft that was made was done through online orders and in store purchases as well. The total amount I owe is probably $2,000-2,500. The theft was being done by a lot of the cashiers at the job, and it was done in the form of coupons that a customer brings in, that were kept by the cashiers and used again. These are available to use online and in store as well. One of my co-workers has already been interviewed and fined $2,000. They did not terminate her yet, but I am sure they will. Should I quit now before they get a chance to interview me and have my statement in a report? Should I stick it out and see what they accuse me of? I have previously quit about 2 weeks ago because of school reasons but I returned, and I was thinking of saying I am quitting again because I cannot handle work and school, I thought I could, but was not able to.

First, you should not be confessing on a public website (or at all for that matter.) You should contact a local criminal defense lawyer to discuss the case. There is a high likelihood that charges will be filed. You do not want to provide information that could be used to prosecute you.
