QUESTION

Statue of limitations?

Asked on Oct 29th, 2019 on Criminal Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I was arrested back in 2017 for a dui. I was scheduled for a docket sounding with my lawyer during hurricane Irma. Since Hurricane Irma canceled that docket sounding the court system never rescheduled another court hearing. My lawyer said they fumbled my case. Now its been over 2 years since my arrest date for that dui and i just recieved a email from my lawyer saying I have to appear in court for this dui that was over 2 years ago. And for some reason I cant get ahold of my lawyer to ask this question to ease my mind. Since its passed statue of limitations is there any way they can still charge me with this dui? There was no damage to property or any bodily injuries.

For some reason I believe that you are asking for a second opinion because you do not like the one your attorney gave you.   The statute of limitations referes to the time period in which you must be charged.  You were charged in 2017
