QUESTION

Statute of limitations in Florida

Asked on Dec 29th, 2019 on Criminal Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I just found out today that I have a 3rd degree felony warrant out of me for a worthless check from 2008. I’m panicked. I left Florida in 2008 and move to GA and PA. I closed my bank account and had no idea about this check or the warrant or anything. Is there a statute of limitations? I have not been back to Florida and have committed no crimes. Please advise.

There are statutes of limitations but usually they stop running when you leave the state,   There is also a US constitutional right to a speedy trial, but many attorneys are not aware of that issue
