QUESTION

What am I facing after being charged with a crime I didn't commit?

More details to this question:
I bought some things from a "friend" that turned out to be reportedly stolen and the police charged me with burglary & theft over while I was at home in my pajamas at 10:00 PM. Since then, 1st court appearance showed police did not do their job and there, they did not and have not investigated anything at all. What should I do or what can be done? I have no criminal background and the state wants me to go to jail. I have 5 kids that we're all each other has. The police also let the apparent "victim" go through my Entire house & personal property and ultimately take out 26+ items w/ a value of at least $2,500.00 or more that she is claiming "might" be hers right down to my coffee pot that still had my coffee grinds in it. Supposedly this stuff is in evidence however, as entitled, the police did not give us a written, itemized list of everything that was seized. These things do not belong to her & I can prove that. I can't count on or trust a trial by jury. The negative consequences are too high.
