What am I looking at in court if I was arrested but then only received a summons to appear in court?

I have a summons to appear in court in Baton Rouge, LA. I live in Texas and my court date is sept. 24 and really I am wondering what am I looking at? Me and this guy took and scrapped $45 of copper and got arrested but only got a summons to appear in court and the cops let us go from the precinct and go about our business so just wondering about what I am looking forward to once I appear in court on Sept 24th.

Theft under $100.00 and that is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine and imprisonment for up to 6 months ... if you have a clean record you probably will not go to jail.
