What can I do if I’m a felon, haven’t been in trouble with the law for 10 years and they found someone else’s gun in my house?

More details to this question:
I was not in the possession of the gun and had now access to it because he had it at all times until he got arrested. Being a felon, I did not want to call the police because I didn't want them to arrest me. Seven months later, they put out a warrant and I was pulled over in a different county where I was served some more charges.
It appears that this case will come down to whether the government can prove that you were "in possession" of the gun. Felon in possession is an extremely serious charge. If you're charged with the offense that I assume that you are, it comes along with a mandatory five year prison sentence. I recommend that you get an experienced criminal defense lawyer retained right away.
