What can I do to prevent him from being prosecuted?

I filed a false police report which caused my partner to be placed in jail for domestic assault. I did this not knowing the consequences it would bring. I was definitely not in the right state of mind when I did this as I suffer from mental illness and was off my medication. Anger was my driving force. Court is about 3 weeks away. What, on my part, could I do now to prevent him from being charged? People have told me to go talk to the county's District Attorney but I am unsure about taking this step. Please help.
