QUESTION

What can I expect after being charged with misdemeanor?

Asked on Oct 28th, 2012 on Criminal Law - Washington
More details to this question:
I made a stupid mistake and was caught for shoplifting ($20). Charged with misdemeanor and given a court date in November 6, 2012 I have never done this before nor do I have any kind of record in the past. Do you recommend finding a lawyer to help me with this? What else can I expect? Is there anyway I can get this so that it doesn't appear on my record? I happened at Good Will store in Edmonds, Washington.

You should get a lawyer to fight this. There are oftentimes ways to get these cases dismissed and keep a theft conviction off your record.

You can expect a sentencing of attending a consumer class, perform community service, pay a fine, pay restitution, and no further criminal violation while on probation.
