What can I expect if my felony got dropped to a misdemeanor petty larceny?

My felony got dropped to a misdemeanor petty larceny and my legal aid told me to continue to go to court and fight for a lower charge. What can I expect? Is this showing up on my background check as a conviction even though I am still going to court for it?

It depends on whether you plead to it or go to trial.? If you go to trial and lose you could be sentenced for up to a yer in jail on a single count of a misdemeanor.? If it gets tossed, you walk.
