QUESTION
What can I legally do if a detective keeps on calling me?
Asked on May 10th, 2017 on Criminal Law - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
A detective keeps calling to question me about a situation with an old client I was taking care of. I did something stupid while on the job and I was caught shoplifting. It was my very first time and a huge, stupid mistake and now she's accusing me of taking things from her residence. The detective said if I do not contact him, he's going to proceed without my cooperation. At this point, I don’t know what to do and it seems like he's already going to charge me. I spoke to a lawyer but he can't proceed unless I give some type of money. I'm just lost right now.

Do not speak to the detective about the case. If it means getting arrested and spending half a day in jail before you are released on bond, do not speak to him. Shop around for a lawyer. Apply for a public defender for your preliminary hearing if you cannot afford a lawyer.
