QUESTION

What consequences could I face for possession of marijuana?

Asked on Aug 19th, 2014 on Criminal Law - Utah
More details to this question:
I am 16 years old (I do not have a license) and a week ago two friends and I were caught smoking weed out past curfew. I was charged with use and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with the rest of my friends. It's my first offense and none of it was mine, although the weed was found in my purse. What will happen?

If convicted, most likely you will need to pay a fine and do some community service. But also, you are likely to have your driver's license suspended, and if you do not yet have your driver's license you may not be eligible to get one for a while. It may be worthwhile to fight the charge. Hire a lawyer to help you.
