QUESTION

What constitutes Hit-and-Run? IS there a distance limit?

Asked on May 02nd, 2017 on Criminal Law - South Carolina
More details to this question:
I was rear-ended, and the other driver fled the scene - or at least to me they fled the scene. The owners car was found completely totaled my car and they were arrested .5 miles down the road because their car died after the impact took its toll - but police say she isn't being charged with a hit and run because "They caught her".

The police have the right charge or not charge as they wish.  I am sorry this happened to you.  If you have been injured, your first stop should be seeing a doctor and your next stop should be to retain a personal injury lawyer.  This answer does not constitute legal advice nor does it create a lawyer/client relationship.
