What do I do if I was accused of taking $2550 in inventory from employer?

My district general manager stated over 3 grand in inventory was missing. After a month, he confronted me and pinpointing me, stating he got video that shows that I took stuff but only because my assistant manager said I could do a IOU until pay but nothing like $2550. I got a lawyer. They turned footage over to police this morning 5 days after talking to me. Lawyer said that embezzlement is hard to prove and cops usually issue summons. Is this true? This manager interrogated me to admitting to things I did not do.
