QUESTION

What do I have to do after I put in a complaint about a simple assault?

Asked on Mar 26th, 2014 on Criminal Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I am a New Jersey resident and I was assaulted by 4 girls outside a pizza shop. I immediately called my school's police department, and they wrote me a police report. During the fight one of the girls ripped of my $500 necklace. I knew who two of the girls were, but only had one of their addresses so I only put in a complaint for one of the girls. I don't know who the girl was that broke my necklace. How can I get compensation for my necklace? The court date is scheduled, do I need a lawyer? What do I have to do at he hearing? Do I have to supply witnesses?
