What does it mean when it says flat time?

I think it means having to serve his whole sentence. But will he get credit for time served in the county jail?

I've never heard the term flat time but there is a term called dead time. That is where someone is sitting in jail but not getting credit for it for some reason or the other. It is rare but it can happen. It usually happens in cases when someone is on parole and gets arrested on a new charge. The time they spend in jail will not count towards their new case so it is known as dead time.

flat time means 1 day credit for 1 day served, with no time knocked off for any programs, good behavior, etc.

In Georgia, it would be called "straight time". He will serve all of the sentence, but he will get credit for any time he spent in other jail toward his sentence, except in some probation revocation situation.
