What happens at an arraignment hearing? family member charged with interferring with public duty.

More details to this question:
Basically alleges wrong place wrong time when a club was being raided and a fight broke out. A group tried to exit and as they got outside the door they were maced and arrested, cuffed and charged and informed of a felony charge for striking a UC officer. She denies hitting the UC. They were not read their rights. Of the 6 arrested no one has a record.

Generally, arraingments are the first of all criminal hearings. At this hearing, the Defendant either pleads guilty or not guilty. That's it. Most people plead not guilty or ask for a continuance to hire an attorney. They may also apply for a public defender if they cannot afford an attorney. However, if they want to proceed on that date with a guilty plea, they will be able to speak with the prosecutor to find out what the recommended sentence and/or fine will be.
