What happens if I can’t pay the fine for stealing a jacket?

More details to this question:
I sat with security. They had me give them information about me, etc. They are asking me to pay $340.00 and I don't have the money to pay it now because I'm in school.

If you want to avoid a criminal case being filed or being convicted of a misdemeanor, see a lawyer. If you cannot afford a private lawyer, call the County Public Defender.
