What happens to an expired probation case?

My brother was put on 5 yrs probation in 2004 and left the state. His probation case has expired (6 yrs ago) and the county has no probation violation warrants. He hasn't been in anymore trouble where he's at. Could the courts close his case without him present?

Did he have a 5 year suspended sentence or a five year deferred? Was a violation report filed or were there no violations reported? Your brother should visit with an attorney who regularly practices in the jurisdiction where he case originated.
