QUESTION

What happens to gun ownership while charged but not convicted?

Asked on Mar 17th, 2015 on Criminal Law - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
I am currently charged with endangering the welfare of a child felony 3. It has already been agreed upon that at my next court appearance I will accept a plea bargain and be convicted of a summary disorderly conduct for completing parenting classes. Can I purchase a firearm and pass the state and NICS background checks while this case is open?

You should be able to but it is possible the Sheriff will deny the application based on his run of your rap sheet-even though a summary conviction should not prevent you from obtaining a license. I would suggest filing a petition to expunge your arrest record.
