More details to this question:
My husband is fighting a case where he worked for a man and was paid under the table with a check because at the time, he had a warrant for his arrest. My husband went to his personal bank, attempted to cash the check and was informed it was fraud. Is there a misdemeanor charge that he can push for or no?

Depending on what the prosecuting attorney will do, the most lesser charge is an attempt, or possibly an attempted theft.
