QUESTION

What is next after you deny a preliminary hearing?

Asked on Jan 28th, 2014 on Criminal Law - Michigan
More details to this question:
My fiance has been in jail going on two months now for felony. The PD denied the preliminary hearing and I know the prosecution decided to drop three charges and only charge him with one and changed it to a class C felony. I just don't know what happens next, how many more court dates, etc.

If he has already entered a plea, then sentencing would be the final court date. If not, he would have a date to enter a plea and then the sentencing.

It depends upon the prosecutor, judge and your fiance's attorney. I don't know anything about the case, or even what your fiance has been charged with, so I can't possibly answer. Try asking your fiance's attorney.
