My mom (now 79) experienced attempted rape, lewdness, obscene phone calls, peeping, breaking and entering, finding pornography under her mattress by the same man who was married to my sister at the time. My sister's friend was raped around the same time. This man threatened to shoot my mom in the head. My sister died soon after all of this. No one reported anything due to fear. This man was found guilty in 2009 for lewdness. He has abused others but those people are scared to report. If everyone who was abused got together to report what they have experienced by this man, would there be a case to possibly prosecute him?
Most felonies in Utah have a four year statute of limitations, but rape is not one of those crimes. Rape has no statute of limitations. It can always be prosecuted, regardless of how much time has passed. A prosecutor will make a determination based on how much evidence survives on whether to prosecute.
