Yes, you have rights. The police are only supposed to conduct a search or pat-down under certain circumstances, i.e, if they have reasonable suspicion of criminal activity. If you believe your son may be targeted by the police because of his race, you may have grounds for a potential civil complaint or may be able to file a complaint against the particular officer through their administrative process.
