What should I do?

Asked on Oct 23rd, 2016 on Criminal Law - Colorado
More details to this question:
Left an employer and a few days after received texts from the shop foreman claiming I stole two injectors. I asked what proof they had of this and did not get a valid response. A month went by and received a threating letter certified mail on company letterhead stating I have ten days to pay$1043 to them for they will report me to the district attorney and have me arrested. Still not providing any indication of proof showing I commited what I am accused of. they claim I did not complete the job and kept the parts. what am I to do at this point? I am the only source of income for my family.

If you did not steal the injectors then I would not pay for them.  The employer may be bluffing, after having a strong suspicion that you took them.   You may be better off spending tha money on a lawyer to fight any case that is filed against you.  The employer can't "file" the criminal case. Only the Police or a District Attorney can - and to do that they will require proof. If your employer cannot provide proof, then the police and DA may not follow through. Howver, be aware, they may call you and try to take a statemetn from you.  It seldom is beneficial to give such a statement.
