QUESTION

What should I do?

Asked on Dec 31st, 2012 on Criminal Law - North Carolina
More details to this question:
I have been charged with misdemeanor larceny along with my two roommates. My best friend has schizophrenia and ended up sneaking some clothes into my bag without me knowing it in the dressing room. My fault for being absentminded and never paying attention otherwise i would have noticed when we left Kohls. My roommate bf is being charged also because he happened to touch something before it was even in the bag. I am wondering if we get a lawyer if they will represent all of us. My best friend is having her therapist represent her. She has a ton of mental issues that wouldn't go well if she attends court. We were charged 2 days ago and we have court in the middle of march. I don't know why it has to be so far away I am so stressed about it

It is always a good idea to get an attorney if you want a favorable outcome with your situation.  Generally, it is a bad idea for one attorney to represent two co-defendants because it can create conflicts. You should seek your own attorney.
