QUESTION

What should I do after getting a ticket for shoplifting?

Asked on Mar 18th, 2014 on Criminal Law - Texas
More details to this question:
About a month ago, I was given a ticket for shoplifting ($45 total) and I have court in a few days. I don't know what to do. I just don't want it on my record. It is the first time this happens to me and I have no clue as what's best to do. In the TX state, this is classified as a Class C misdemeanor (according to something I read minutes ago) and I also read an answer on this site that it is good to try to "defer" it because it can be dismissed, and with the money and try to get it off my record. The answer was from a Texas lawyer years ago, so I want to know if that would be good for me as well. Thanks.
