The local police was scheduled to come because they received a complaint of identity theft. What should I do?

You need to speak to an attorney prior to talking to the police and have your attorney present whenever the police interview you.

Consult with and retain an attorney to represent you. Tell the police you do not wish to speak with them until you have your attorney present. Then shut up, unless you are repeating that you do not wish to speak to them without your attorney present. Then shut up again.

Get an attorney who will do the talking, you should not speak with the police about the incident.

You need to absolutely exercise your right to remain silent and NEVER speak to the police or be interviewed. And, you better hire a lawyer before you make a wrong move, because every little thing you do from this point forward could seal your fate.
