QUESTION

What to do? Help!!

Asked on Nov 19th, 2023 on Criminal Law - Michigan
More details to this question:
My boyfriend got arrested for A&B because of the statement I wrote while having a mental episode. I did not lie on the statement but there are a lot of details missing that can prove he was actually innocent and never touched me in any harmful way. I was confused and could not retell the police officer exactly how things happened because I honestly could not remember while being questioned. So can I recant my statement and include the full story in a new one? I'm not worried about getting in trouble because I know now what actually happened and want to prove his innocence . I never lied just did not remember all the right details at the time

Police almost always arrest the man involved in a domestic A&B. If you are having memory issues, feel free to give a statement to the police but understand, there is other evidence, the call to the police, cameras and physical evidence. Take good care of yourself.
