What will happen if I cannot afford my first DUI?

More details to this question:
Currently I am on a fixed SSI income of $900 total. I have too many bills and days away of losing my apartment. I have no kids, just my boyfriend whom I live with. I will soon essentially leave him homeless as well due to not being able to afford rent. Please tell me there is a swift solution that is free? Thank you.

You can do jail time in lieu of fines.

They will make you do community labor instead of paying the fines. You can also so jail, which is the best option in LA, because you will not do any time. Instead of 12-13 days to pay fine you'll be out in a day.
