What will happen if I was sent to jail with charges of disorderly conduct and property damage?

More details to this question:
Saturday Night in Columbus, WI at some friend's place, a friend and I went out for a few drinks at nearby bars. After the second bar, I have no memory, until I woke up in a jail cell with charges of disorderly conduct and property damage to two very nice cars that could cost god knows how much. I currently just barely make enough to get by and we are trying to approach this as smart as possible. Should I just get a public defender for this, or am I going to need to hire an attorney? We are normally professional people and I don't have anything like this on my record and I am almost 40 years old. Am I screwed? Will I need to look at being over-served drinks? I know there were witnesses.
