What will happen to me if I have a shoplifting charge?

More details to this question:
So earlier I got shoplifting for $40 worth of stuff in a store. I was taken in by security and then gave them my info. I got arrested, and the cop took me in and finger printed me etc, He was a nice fellow and read me my Miranda rights and so on.. I am 18 and charged with a mister meaner, I am supposed to show up at court. This is my first time and do not know what to expect.

As with any criminal case, you need and should have an attorney assist you. You want to do all that you can to avoid a criminal record, especially at your age with your future ahead of you. Any criminal conviction, but especially theft related crimes can affect school and job options. Be sure to consult an attorney directly.
