What's my defense in a forgery case?

More details to this question:
My ex stole a check from my job and cashed it at her bank. When she got caught, she said I gave it to her and forged my boss’s signature which I didn't I have a PD but it seems like she is working more for the prosecution.

I would hire a private lawyer if you have no confidence in your public lawyer. Maybe consider a handwriting expert.
