QUESTION

When and how can I get a third degree retail fraud charge expunged?

Asked on Oct 17th, 2014 on Expungements - Michigan
More details to this question:
I was charged in 2012 with retail fraud. Other than a couple tickets I have had nothing on my record since. It was a stupid decision and a big lesson learned. I need employment.

The expungement law requires, among other things, 5 years since your last conviction.

See an attorney, the conviction has to be 5 yrs old before it can be expunged and you have to have a clean record during that time. Make and start your plan of action now with counsel.

You should have been eligible at that time for a first offender deal, what happened? Contact my office to discuss. Otherwise, you have to wait until 2017 to use the expungement statute.
