QUESTION

When can I get my license back if I got a DWI and moving to another state?

Asked on Jul 11th, 2014 on DUI/DWI - California
More details to this question:
I have a DUI AND DWI on record. I just got the DWI a few months ago and still am on supervised probation for 2 years but it is getting transferred to California. Will I still just have my license suspended for 6 months as what the court sentenced me to or will I have to follow the California DWI rules?

This is a complicated question and there is also some chance involved. Your probation terms must be complied with and your home state DMV will control your home state license. If you move you can apply for a California license but it may be held up by your home state. You would have to clear all holds/restrictions in the home state and then apply in California.

CA would allow license if insured and take DUI program. You will probably have to ask for a hearing in this state.
