When does fines have to be paid?

More details to this question:
My husband took a plea and he has to serve 3 weeks of jail time also they said he has to pay $1000 fine and court cost does that have to be paid before his release date.

The court will just get a civil judgment as most defendants cannot pay their fines. This will hurt your credit. If he is on probation they will make him pay over time. They will take it out of his commissary money if he does not pay.

Usually not. The judge should have told him when the fines and court costs are due. Most judges give 6 months to a year to pay these.

Some courts will allow the defendant to pay fines over time after release. Some courts will not. Most will probably recognize that he is unable to earn money in jail, and thus will release him with some type of payment plan or request for full payment within a certain number of days. Ultimately, you would need to speak with the clerk of the court to determine how your husband's fines will be handled, as it differs in each jurisdiction.

No, it does not have to be paid before he is released. Most courts permit you to sign-up for a payment plan. See the court clerk for more information.
