Asked on Feb 04th, 2016 on Criminal Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I was caught shoplifting at a store. The asset recovery guy took me to the back room, took a copy of my ID. He said I was was not trespassed and I was Walmart was not pressing chargers. A few weeks later I got a letter in a the mail saying I had to pay a civil fine of 200$. I used my boyfriend's debit card and payed for it (with his permission). I have not received a release l letter yet. Will this show up on a background check for the military? And can Walmart still take me to court? I am 17.

Update Your Profile
You did not seek the advice of an attorney at the time. You should have done that. Now, you have a mess, not so much from being charged with a crime, because you were not criminally charged, but because Walmart now has you in their database of thieves. They can do anything that they want to do with your information as far as making it available to other retailers or perhaps insurance companies. I do not think that it will show up on a regular criminal background check.
