Will I be able to get my charges expunged for job purposes?

More details to this question:
I am in the nursing field and want to further my education. I'm being held back because I have a record from 5 years ago. I need to know if I can get a pardon or get my charges expunged. Most jobs I apply for in the nursing field, won't even take a look at your application if you have anything on your background.
Assuming you pled guilty or were otherwise found guilty of the charge, you cannot have it expunged. Expungements in Virginia are only for cases of "actual innocence" such as where the charges were dropped or you were acquitted after a trial. While pardons are granted in rare instances, that will not remove it from your record.
This answer is given in accordance with the laws of Virginia and may not be applicable in any other state.
