QUESTION

Will I be arrested for a traffic warrant that exists in a different county?

Asked on Nov 25th, 2011 on Criminal Law - Texas
More details to this question:
I go to a university in east Texas. Back in October, I went to Austin, TX for a school conference and got pulled over for speeding in some county outside of Austin. The officer gave me a ticket for speeding 9 miles over. I failed to pay the ticket nor did I make any arrangements to pay the ticket so a warrant was issued for my arrest. I know that I will never be back in that county again so am I safe? My friends told that if a warrant was issued for me in that county, cops in that county would not come searching for me over in east Texas where I go to school. Are my friends correct? If I were to get pulled over in any county and the officer see there is a warrant for my arrest would they arrest me even though it is not in the county of the ticket I got pulled over in?

It depends on what search the officer conducts on your license. Out of county are usually not the norm, but they will do a state wide if you are arrested and charged with a crime.
