QUESTION

will i be facing jail time for a false report of felony?

Asked on Nov 05th, 2020 on Criminal Law - Michigan
More details to this question:
so a work truck got stolen and i made a report of it to the police. My contractor at the time pulled me to the side and forced me to say i was assaulted during the theft instead of how it actually happened or i would face being fired and legal issues with the company. It happened because of a bad alternator i couldn't take the key out of the truck for it wont start again and the guy hopped in the truck and took off. I was called by the officer at the scene of the crime days later saying what i reported was false and made a note of it months later through a background check he filed a warrant for my arrest would i be facing jail time or a different sentence

Yes, there is the possibility of receiving jail time upon conviction for this offense. Courts do not tend to look favorably on those who commit this offense since it undermines the entire criminal justice system. Your previous record, and what you are ultimately convicted of (if anything), will impact the sentence. You need an attorney to assist you with resolving this case.
