QUESTION

Will I go to jail if I cannot complete my court order DUI classes?

Asked on Aug 23rd, 2013 on DUI/DWI - Georgia
More details to this question:
I was in the midst of my DUI classes (9 months first offense but a BAC of .16, the DA tried to get me on my 2 other stale DUIS that happened 24 years ago but judge said no). At any rate, I ended up in jail (no not a DUI) and the judge gave me a stay but I cannot come up with the money ($294 as I was out of contact etc.). As the job I do have is 4 hours a week at $8 an hour. The question is... will I go to jail if I cannot come up with the money? I called the school and they said I had until Oct 24th until it resets meaning I'd have to start all over again.

You may go to jail if the judge decides that you should have found the money to pay for it.

You will be in violation of probation, and jail is one of the potential consequences. You should hire a lawyer to go to court to get you an extension.

You should have your attorney contact the prosecutor and see what you have to do to avoid jail time.
