Will shoplifting show up on background checks?

I’m trying to get an apartment and they do background checks. I currently took something out of Macy’s but I haven’t had a court date. It happened in Illinois.

It may depending on the type of background check. You should try and have it dismissed at your first court date and then have it expunged if you are eligible.
