Will stealing go on my record even if I paid the store?

Asked on Oct 22nd, 2014 on Criminal Law - New York
More details to this question:
I got caught stealing $25 dollars (in reward points) from a department store. I was given 2 documents to sign. One was saying that I admit to steal and the other document was about paying a $25 dollars which I did. So what I'm wondering is with this go on my record? Also will I be on my background check?

If you were arrested by the police and fingerprinted, maybe, depending upon how the case was resolved. If you weren't arrested and fingerprinted, probably not.
