QUESTION

Will the case get dropped if he doesn't show up to court?

Asked on Jul 09th, 2016 on Criminal Law - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
I was recently charged with simple assault (m2) and harassment (summary). The only reason I got arrested on these charges was because there was a lady who videotaped the end of the fight I had with my friend. The victim told the officers he didn't want to press charges, but due to having someone see it, they had to arrest me. I have a preliminary hearing this week, and the victim is not going to show up to court because he doesn't want to press charges. He informed the arresting officers he wasn't going to press charges. What’s the worst that can happen to me at the court case?

If no victim willing to testify, your case should be withdrawn. that is how it will go with an attorney representing you. If you do this hearing on your own, it may not go so well. You may end up having to pleading to a disorderly conduct or harassment summary.
