QUESTION

Will your driving record follow you to another state when moving?

Asked on Dec 05th, 2017 on Traffic Violations - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I am a Maryland resident and got an out of state moving violation for 5 over the speed limit. I paid the ticket and MD doesn't recognize any points. I'm trying to transfer my license to New Jersey since I just moved their. Will New Jersey assign 2 points to my license when I switch because of a previous ticket I have, or will they not assign me any points because I don't have any MD points when I transfer my license? The question is do the points follow you, or the actual details of the ticket follow you? (5 over in NJ is typically a 2 point offense)
