More details to this question:
In 1999, a cop, who was a friend showed up in uniform to inform me that my sister-in-law had filed a complaint against me and that there was a warrent and that I should go to the sherrifs office. So the next morning I did. I was informed that I had a complaint of assault. I was finger printed and photo was taken. Never had any rights read. I went to the magistrate and was release ROR. A court date was set for a month or so later. I went with a public defender and then I was told that neither of us were to be around each other. That was it. No paperwork or anything. Does that mean the charges were dropped? Will it be on my record? I am in the process of becoming a teachers aid and I am not for sure if this will be on my record. This is the one and only time that I have ever done anything like this. I am not for sure if I was formally charged or what. I just need an idea of what it means and if it will be on my record.
