Writing the judge

More details to this question:
My husband is in jail and had a public defender do to not being able to afford a lawyer. As his wife I wrote the judge telling him that my husband did not do what these people are saying he did. His public defender told him that I shouldn't have done that. Did I do something wrong by doing that?

It would have been better to have contacted your husbands lawyer and give him/her the information you had, so that the lawyer could then use it in the most effective way to help your husband. But you won't get in any legal trouble for writingh the judge - it was just not a good idea.
