QUESTION

Am denied a home equity loan on false premises.

Asked on Sep 03rd, 2022 on Debtor and Creditor - Michigan
More details to this question:
My bank from which I’ve had a home equity loan for over 10 years that I’ve just paid off with no missed payments has denied me a renewal on the false premise that I have too many outstanding balances ( I have none). I asked the bank (Fifth Third) to list them to which they never responded. I was asked to fill out another request nearly a year later and this second time I was told I didn’t own my home which I have owned for over 50 without a mortgage. I asked the bank tell to me who owns my home on which I recently paid off a 10 year home equity loan from their bank. Once again no response. I also own a home in Key West with no mortgage, My credit score is around 830, and I am an 84 year old widow who owes no money. Even my two credit cards are paid off every month. Fifth-Third refuses to explain the basis of their unfounded denials.

Dear Mrs. McGee, The while banks can turn someone down for reasons of credit score or risk, you sound like you may be being discrimated against because of your age. Such a lawsuit might take a good deal of time to win but it might also be a class action case. You definitely need a lawyer who specializes in suing banks. If you need a reference, I am happy to provide it. Sincerely,   Gilbert Borman
