QUESTION

Being sued by Portfolio Recovery, I don’t know what to do.

More details to this question:
My mom recently got a letter saying I was going to be sued by a collections agency, she has not got the summons yet. The reason she got it was because when I got the credit card I was in college, and then I moved out of the country, and now I live in Denver. I’m from Florida, and that’s where the summons is. I can’t make it to Florida for the court date, and I want to settle, but when I called Portfolio Recovery they directed me to the law firm handling the case, Pollack and Rosen. I check them online, and their reviews are awful, and basically being called a “collections agency pretending to be a law firm”. I’m very intimidated speaking with a law firm, and I don’t know what to expect or say.

You will have to decide whether you want to spend the money on hiring a lawyer, wich is an out of pocket expense. Otherwise you will have to overcome the intimidation and handle it.
